Culture Crash |
You are a non-humanoid, non-gendered alien and are about to make unexpected First Contact with another alien species, part of a team. Your mindset and goals will be heavily influenced by your distinctive culture, yet you also have your own motivations as a character. How will you respond to the discovery of other intelligent beings, with their own very different cultural attitudes? Will this affect your relationships to others of your own kind? This First Contact hasn't happened how you might have wished. How will you respond to the potential dangers of space exploration? |

Diewald, Jeff
I have been LARPing since the Dawn of Time, although it is not true my first LARP was printed on papyrus or
used the Papyrus font. I love LARPing with my Consequences people, old friends and the friends I've not yet
met. I'll be back when we can do this in person again, although I also love the virtual ways we have to play
together outside of the conventions.
This year is special because it is the 25th anniversary of my bid submission for Intercon the Thirteenth, the first of the modern Boston Intercons. That bid, the people who supported it and the first conventions, as well as the people who've come in to continue the marvelous tradition — produced something beyond our wildest initial dreams.
This year is particularly special because of Culture Crash. Written as part of Virtual Peaky UK 2021, I got to share in the joy of writing with some very talented UK locals. I love this game and the process we used to write it. I love the collaborative effort involved. I love the looks on the players' faces when they realize just how interestingly strange the cultures are.
My entire LARP story is available as part of the Vortex of Chaos website.
Gammans, Roger
Apparently I should have a bio.
I've written some games at peaky, and sometimes even run them at consequences.
Kaye, Heidi
Generally found on the sofa with a laptop into the wee hours, you are
addicted to
freeforms and board gaming. Having started on a whim as a last-minute
player in
Home of the Bold at Convulsion in 1992, your obsession has grown and grown.
Beginning by playing freeforms at cons and the occasional game of Settlers
of
Catan at home, you swiftly moved on to writing, running and playing
freeforms at
every opportunity and owning a large collection of board games, playing them
both
in real life and online. As Comfy Chair of Peaky Games, you conduct an
annual
Spanish Inquisition as to who's working on which freeforms to prepare them
for
publication, in your mania to spread your passion for freeforming to the
whole
world.
Your abilities are: existing on little sleep, writing your cats into your games and carrying a big stick.
Your Heart Ability (usable by your True Love) is multi-tasking.
Your goals are: find the six-fingered man who killed your father, the one- armed man who killed your brother's wife and the woman in white who escaped from the asylum. And maybe find some romance on the way....
Perry, Rich
Richard has been playing freeforms for a very long time. He started as a half-
elf and developed into playing bad guys, after being misled by good friend. Now
he plays space pilots and white hats, while mixing in a little romance here
and there.
He was part of the writing & GM team for Siege of Troy and 2018 saw the debut of Shogun.
If you want to know about Roman gladiators please feel free to ask.
Winnard, Julie
I've written and run big and small freeforms occasionally for fun, at Peaky,
Consequences and before that Furrytales and for our own parties. I blame my husband
Adam, who wrote and ran Murder Mysteries for years professionally (my only experience
of stage fright is blanking as the murderer in front of paying punters- but still
managing to burble out my stuff!). I like writing with 1 or more others as the ideas
flow better!
