Veterans Day

Twenty five years ago an army of superheroes, created to save the Earth from an alien fleet bent on humanity's destruction, drove the alien invaders from our world.

Today we gather to celebrate the end of the war, and honour their sacrifice.

A reception is being held to present medals to the few remaining veterans. You are cordially invited to attend. Formal dress is advised.

Scores may be settled and secrets revealed.

Written at the 2009 "Peaky" weekend, and subsequently expanded, this game has run several times since then.

Information for Players:The game may be slightly dark in places, possibly indicating a PG or '12' Rating. Background events offstage including violence, deaths (including child deaths) and some references to prior sexual liaisons. But nothing worse than you'd find in your average superheroes comic or SF novel.

There are no major costuming requirements - the game is a vice-presidential reception, so anything vaguely formal looking will do fine.

Reading expectations: character sheets are about 8 sides of A4, and a few pages of additional background briefing material for most characters.

Jones, Martin

A not-so-closet gamer ever since your early youth, you discovered 'freeforms' about a decade ago. You have since been involved in writing Best of the Wurst, Veterans Day, Lists of Avalon and The Deliverance.

Having successfully infiltrated a satellite construction facility your plans for subverting the orbital mind control device and using it to 'liberate' the world are one step closer.

For some reason currently unclear to you, you have recently taken to referring to yourself in the 3rd person.

Quotes: "Angst! - We Need More Angst!"

Snowden, Mike

I'm the one with beard, glasses and an armful of props, and hopefully a pint. OK, that's half of the con. Replace "prop" with "PA", and I'm more easily identifiable.

I'm an experienced writer and player; Previous games include "Come Hel or Hiawatha", "Small Town Folks", "Veterans Day" and "Carry on at Camp David". "Dr. Nefarious and the Paradise Project" is my last offspring from the Peaky writing weekend.
