The Curse |
Would you cut out healthy body parts if you thought it might save your life? Rita and Elle bear a heavy legacy: a mother who developed breast cancer at 30 rnand died of ovarian cancer 20 years later. When it comes to their family tree, that’s just the start of the problem. There’s a BRCA mutation lurking in the family DNA, an inherited genetic error that dramatically ups a woman’s chances of developing aggressive breast and ovarian cancer at unusually young ages. After Rita and Elle test positive for the family mutation, they can choose to live with it or cut it out with a scalpel. Will they change themselves to avoid their mother’s fate, or stay strong? How should the men in their lives deal with the news? This freeform game is about making life-altering decisions in uncertain circumstances and passing on that choice to the next generation. A scenario about bodies, relationships and love, where nothing is sure. |

Information for Players: | This is a game about people, relationships and uncertainty. It can be intense and emotional, but it isn't about wallowing in misery. It talks about cancer, sex, changing your body and breasts, so make sure you're comfortable with that. | ||

Walmsley, Graham
Graham started designing freeforms back in 2005. His first game was a Paranoia-
Cthulhu crossover, followed shortly by a An American Werewolf In London - All
Creatures Great And Small crossover, followed by a Meatloaf LARP.
Since then, he has designed lots of tabletop games. He played The Curse last year and it changed the way he thought about games.
