Fort on the Borderlands |
Fort on the Borderlands (FotB) is a chance to enjoy old school Dungeons and Dragons in a freeform format. Create your own Fighter, Wizard, Cleric or Thief and join an adventuring party to investigate the local area. Follow up on rumours, fight kobolds, goblins and worse to gain prestige, renown and big piles of treasure. We'll be ensuring an even split of character classes amongst the player base through pre-casting, but the details of your character are up to you. You're strongly encouraged to make up your own backstory and do some world-building in advance of the game. Characters have simple in-game stats that increase with level (and yes, we do intend to have a small bell to ring when you level up!) to allow you over the course of the game to take on nastier challenges. We are also looking for a few players to be Patrons of the Keep - they won't be out adventuring but will have their own goals and intrigues that they will need groups of adventurers to advance. Think of them as the Quest-Givers. The game has already been written and played once, so we know the mission system works. We hope you'll enjoy! |

Information for Players: | Costuming is down to the players - as much or as little as they like.
There are no health and safety issues that we can think of.
Pregaming material is light - just a short primer on the basic mechanics of
resolving quests. One conceit of the game is that the characters themselves
have only just started adventuring at 1st lvl, so don't necessarily know how
things work.
Patron players will have slightly more to read in terms of specific goals. FotB is set in the eponymous Keep (er..I mean Fort). Or to be more specific in the local Inn, which as every self-respecting adventurer knows is the best place to pick up a cheap beer, a packet of dry roasted rumours and a mysterious patron. The players take the roles of first-level adventurers looking for gold, glory and xp; the mysterious patrons; and the Inn/Keep staff. Can you get to the dizzy heights of 3rd level; rescue the princess from the dragon; get some bunch of suckers to retrieve your phylactery; you get the idea….if it’s a genre-appropriate cliché then we’re going to try our damndest to cram it in. Think of your first D&D game. Think Order of the Stick. Think Baldur’s Gate. Do NOT think of live-action playing with swords. There will also be no dice – guaranteed. ('Adventures' are more narrative based, with a closer resemblance to 'Choose Your Own Adventure' mechanics that any miniature/dice-based form of resolution.) |

Amos, John
Have Dice/ The Nice Man/ The old coot in the corner - that's me.
Consequences, Conception and Indiecon are what rocks my boat and I've always
got
time to talk to friends.
Retired now, it doesn't seem possible where have the last 38 years gone.
If you want tabletop I can usually find something to run, this year I will be
trying to tempt any with Skyrealms of Jorune, 5th Edition DnD or an offering
of 7th Empire set in an alternative Roman Empire in a much differed AD285.
We hope people sign up for and enjoy our offering if you like it there will
be
more.
Come on Ancient Rome AD285 with Steampunk and friends what more do you want?
Freeman, Mathew
Having attended Consequences for quite a few years now as a player, Matt has
gone completely mad and is Assistant/Co-GMing multiple games. At some point he
intends to actually play in something, but if all else fails can be found in
the boardgames area encouraging yet more gaming.
Goodman, James
First time at Consequences having finally succumbed to the sales pitch that
the silver-tongued Matt Freeman has been plying me with for a while.
First played in a LRP in 2002, was hooked, and then actually got round to
writing one a few years later, with the current tally at ten, including co-
authorships.
Otherwise, you'll find me board-gaming in any spare moments. (Well, or drinking, and to be entirely fair, probably both simultaneously.)
